Champions of Peace

Hello and welcome to my blog post, for the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions of Peace’.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are the dove, olive branch and the iconic peace symbol. These symbols represent peace because they all stand for peace and unity.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because it has one of the peace symbols I mentioned in the paragraph before.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Muhammad Ali, although he was a boxer that hit people as a sport, Muhammad was also a kind person who liked to help the people in need.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because it has given me a better understanding about the importance of peace and what we can do to be a peacemaker. I learnt that peace is a necessity in the world and without peace the earth would be an unhappy place and an unhealthy environment for us to live in.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by helping people who are in need and being a kinder person.

How can you be a champion of peace?

Inferring

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing you what I did for reading this week. For this weeks reading we have been learning about inferring and reading between the lines, you might be wondering ‘What is inferring?. Inferring is when you try to guess what’s happening in a book, picture or video before it’s been stated. Our goal was “independently predict, interpret and analyse text, ‘reading between the lines’ to gain a deeper meaning.” This is my work.

Did you know what inferring was before I told you?

Reading

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing you my reading create for this week. For my reading I learnt about text features and was told to read an article about the New Zealand war. We then had to make a poster about what we learnt from the article and include as many text features as possible. For my text feature I decided to use a Title, timeline, map, caption, bold and Italic words because they were the easiest to do.

What do you know about the New Zealand war?

Maths

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing you my math create for this week. This week we started a new unit in math and that unit is geometry. If you don’t know what geometry is it’s basically shapes, angles, dimensions and sizes of a variety of things. We were told to make a pattern with 6 different shapes and colours, we also had to make it symmetrical (one way is same then the other) then blog it when we are done.

What do you know about geometry?

Reading

Hello and welcome to my blog, today I will be showing you what my reading create was. For our reading we are working on predictions, we have to predict what happens before we read the text, when we’re half way through the text and if your prediction was correct or not. We had to choose between two texts to write your prediction about, the two options were Reckless and Spark, I chose to do my predictions on Reckless. If you have been reading this and have no idea what a prediction is, it’s basically when you try to guess what’s going to happen before it happens, like when someone tries to predict the future. Now that I am done explaining what a prediction is, here is my reading create.

Have a read of the text and tell me what your predictions were from the photos on the text.

Witch text would you have done your prediction about?

Poetry

Hello and welcome to my blog, today I will be showing you about the different types of poem I have learnt this term. The first poem I will be showing you is called a Limerick poem, this will be presented on a slide I made. The slide will tell you about a limerick poem and show you some examples of a limerick poem. These poems were very difficult for me because I absolutely suck at rhyming.

Another one of the poems I will be showing you is called a Biographical poem. A biographical poem is easy to understand and write, it’s the easiest poem I’ve ever done. The following slide will tell you about a biographical poem and how you write one.

The very last poem I will be showing you is called a List poem and it’s very easy to write, the only thing I struggled with was trying to find a topic to do the poem about. The rest was total breeze.

What do you know about poems?

Science

Hello and welcome to my blog, today I will be telling you about what I have been doing for science. For the past 2 weeks I have been going to room 7 for science. Every lesson we got to we get to do two science experiment.

One of my favourite experiments was the electric play dough, we were given an option to either use clay or play dough to connect to a battery and make a small light light up. I was in a group 4 that consisted of Bonnie, Beth, Eilish and me. At first we tried to make the light light up with clay but that was a big fail so we decided to switch to play dough, after we connected the play dough, battery, light and the wires the small light lit up. We were very happy cause we were the first group to succeed in making the light light up.

Out of all the experiments we did I really enjoyed doing the electric play dough because it was really fun playing with the play dough and watching the light light up. If I was to do this experiment again or something similar I now know that the clay does not do anything to make the light work.

Do you enjoy science and experiments?

Production Tickets

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing tickets I made for the porridge play. I used canva to make the tickets because it looks better than when you do it on google drawing. It’s a little plain but it’s the best I could do. I also made a poster containing all the information you need to know about the play… I blogged it last week.

Have you ever tried to make tickets?

Production Poster

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing you a poster I made for the up coming theatre play. We were given a very important task to make a poster for the upcoming play and the teacher will pick a poster to be sent out to the parents giving them all the information they have to know about the play.  We also have to make tickets for the parents but that’s for another blog.

Have you ever made a poster about a production?

Maths Create

Hello and welcome to my blog post, today I will be showing you my week 8 math create. This week we started doing probabilities and graphs, for our math create we were told to create a DLO with your data collection and graph, then I had to explain what I did  and explain what I noticed. Once I’ve done all that I  have to show the probability of each picture showing. While making this I learnt how to convert fractions into percentages, something I found hard was making the graph (I don’t have any experience on how to use a spread sheet). Something I might do differently next time is make two separate links for the extra her mark.

What do you know about probability?
